Staff management, Waterski Instructor, Camper Behavior/Adjustment, Planning, Bookkeeping, Construction Services, Sandcastle Building

Experience & Background:
Melody Pines was founded by my mom’s parents in 1951. In the mid-60s, my parents bought the camp and ran it for 35 years. I don’t have a single memory of summer that doesn’t include camp—I’ve spent every summer camp day here at Melody Pines. Over the last 35 years, I have moved through every role at camp, which has been both fun and rewarding.

After high school, I attended UNH and earned a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies with a focus on Child Development, as well as a Master of Education in Counseling. I worked as a school counselor for about five years before starting a construction business for off-season work. I have served on the NH Camp Directors Board of Directors for 15 years and currently serve as the Chairperson of the Department of Labor Subcommittee.

Why I Love What I Do:
I love spending time with my family, alpine skiing, working out, and reading.

Outside of Work:
Building something for camp or a home project, attending my kids’ sporting events/shows, hanging out with friends, and camp planning.

Fun Fact:
I love to binge true crime podcasts when I’m driving.

Favorite Quote:
“Believe in yourself and you’re halfway there.”

Superpower of Choice:
The ability to read minds—so I could help people when they can’t find the words to get the help they need.

Coffee Order:
Iced, black with sweetener.

Outside of Work:
Hiking, strength training, reading, planting, doing yoga, organizing, or planning for the next camp season!

Fun Fact:
During the winter months, I spend time announcing at USSA and FIS alpine ski races.

Testimonials

“Thank you for everything you and everyone else who helps you run Melody Pines do to keep it the absolute best summer program I have ever seen for kids! My twins come home bursting with nothing but great stories about their days and never want their weeks to end at camp. Between the swim lessons and unbelievable water activities, fabulous games, special presentations, crafts, free activities, great equipment, and snacks, they can’t get enough of camp, camp, camp! . . . It is really amazing how well-run everything is, and the organization you have is truly unbelievable. . . So thank you again for your true gift of your wonderful camp to our children. It will definitely be a lifelong memory for them!”

– Kelly, Londonderry, NH

“I’m really blown away by my daughter’s camp experience. She absolutely loved her summer. Her swimming has improved, she has more confidence, and she can make a killer gimp spiral bracelet. Your counselors are amazing too! . . . Thank you for giving her such an awesome experience. We’ll be back for sure.”

– Amy, Auburn, NH

“Thank you for all the autonomy you afford campers while still setting boundaries and expectations. Our daughters love their freedom at Melody Pines, but it works so well because of the structure you’ve built around it. They can choose so many of their activities, but they still have to learn to act as teammates (and to swim!). No other summer camp has come close—we feel lucky to be an MPDC family.”

– Catherine, Bedford, NH

“There truly is no other place they’d rather be all summer.”

– Angela, Londonderry, NH

“My kids had an amazing time at Melody Pines this year and can’t wait to come back next year. . . When I picked up my son the first day, he said, ‘It’s just like a camp out of the movies!’ He gave me a full rundown the entire ride home. . . As promised, they were dirty, hungry, and tired—which was great! They always indicated that they’d had a fantastic day and were ready to go at it again the next.”

– Jenifer, Hopkinton, NH

“Thank you for another amazing summer! My son absolutely loves every minute! This was his third summer, and it always seems to be better than the last! Your staff, your camp, and your day-to-day activities always impress—as well as your organization and professionalism! We look forward to many more summers!”

– Heather, Bedford, NH

“I can’t tell you how happy I am to know that my son is with counselors who are kind and fun, given the chance to try so many things that he has never done before, and in such a beautiful outdoor setting with other kids who are having fun too!”

– Chris, Derry, NH
